Special provision needed for the education of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes children, Says Rusen Kumar

RAIGARH: Education is fundamental to survive in society and democracy for everyone. Education is a societal responsibility of citizens, Entrepreneur and Founder of India CSR Network Rusen Kumar said. 

While delivering the keynote address at Humana-Microsoft Digital Classroom programme launching ceremony in a Govt. School at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, said, “Getting quality education is a fundamental right of every child and at the same time providing and ensuring the right kind of education is a prime duty of parents and society.”

“To bring significant improvident at rural education ecosystem, public-private partnership has to play a crucial role.”, he said.

Giving a special reference to primary education of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (NCDNSNT) in the country, Rusen Kumar said, “Children of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes are totally deprived from primary education. Government and local administrations should look into the matter. We need special provision for the education of children of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes across India.”

Humana People to People India, in partnership with Rajiv Gandhi Shiksha Mission, Chhattisgarh and Microsoft jointly launched the Digital Learning Programme in 16 Government school of Raigarh and Mungeli districts of Chhattisgarh. The programme is supported under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme of Microsoft India. The Programme is delivered under two broad verticals: School Learning and Adult Literacy.

Appreciating the facilities and efforts made by Humana People to People India (HPPI) and Microsoft, Rusen Kumar said, “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a great enabler. It is a truly great sign that CSR is reaching to the villages. Such partnership and programme definitely help the Govt. in making education effective. The modules of this Digital Learning Programme will surely enhance the learning levels of the students through the strategic use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and digital contents while simultaneously developing their critical thinking and creativity.”

Under the Digital School Programme, computer labs are made available in each school and the capacity of the teachers is built to inculcate new methods to teach subjects with the help of multimedia content. Video-based learning is promoted through ‘School-in-box’ solution comprising a projection system and speakers to keep the students actively engaged in the learning process, while the assessment is conducted through a digital ‘Learning Management System’. The video content is designed by the experts and structured in line with the age/grades of the children.

On December 17th, 2019 at the Government Primary School, Vijaypur in Raigarh, the Digital Classroom Project was launched by Sambit Mishra, Assistant Collector of Raigarh; Rusen Kumar, Founder, India CSR Network; R.K. Trivedi, Principal, O.P. Jindal School Raigarh; Snorre Westgaard, CEO, Humana People to People India and Chandan Verma, National Partnership Officer – Govt. & CSR Partnerships, Humana People to People India.
