MUMBAI: As you all know Latur District in Marathwada region of Maharashtra has faced acute water shortage during last two years due to less rainfall and lack of water conservation measures. There was no sufficient water for drinking in the area; agriculture was on hold for two years.
Understanding the need of the area KMCT contributed in Art of Living’s Taverja River rejuvenation activity in May 2016. Under it 12-14 Feet deep silt deposition has been excavated from river bed. This work went on for two months with help of villagers, number of JCB machineries and Government authorities. This silt was deposited since many years which have blocked the water percolation in river bed.
With present rainfall in Latur our support has created greater long term positive impact as large amount of water (240 Crore Liters) has been stored in river bed which has been percolated resulting in ground water recharge. As said by Government officials now Latur will be able to meet its water requirement for next three years from this storage. Villagers, Government authorities and Art of Living thanked Astarc (KMCT) for this support.
Computer Education is a rare thing for remote village children as there is no availability. Understanding the need of computer literacy among rural students, last year KMCT started E-Learning Computer Lab in Durvesh Z.P. School where results were remarkable to 75% compared to baseline of 6.9%. Motivated with the impact KMCT started four new such labs in Palghar area. On 7th October 2016 one such Lab was inaugurated at Zillah Parishad Ambede School in presence of Astarc Director Salil Musale and Palghar Zillah Paris had CEO Nidhi Choudhary.

CEO Nidhi Choudhary asked Parents to send their children in school regularly and make them educated. She urged parents to make bets out of this Lab and mothers to become “Shamchi Aai” and ensure education of their child.
