Wockhardt Foundation felicitates underprivileged children at its initiative – Khel Khel Mein Annual Day – Umang

MUMBAI: Khel Khel Mein, an initiative for underprivileged children celebrated its Annual Day 2013-14 on March 7, 2014 at D.Y Patil International School, Worli. Khel Khel Mein are toy libraries where underprivileged children can engage in Edu-recreational play within a semi-structured programme based on sound values. It is a Mumbai-centric initiative by Wockhardt Foundation, a national, secular, non-profit organization engaged in human welfare and social service activities.
At the event, about 200 underprivileged children in the age group of 06 to 12 years from all the 14 Khel Khel Mein centers in Mumbai put up various performances revolving around the seven human values. These children were trained by professional choreographers who brought out the best talent in them. Mrs. Samina Khorakiwala, CEO, Khel Khel Mein welcomed the Chief Guest Mrs. Femisa Arsiwalla.
Wockhardt Foundation awarded meritorious underprivileged children for various award categories like attendance & proactiveness. The teachers were recognized and awarded for their noble contribution towards development of underprivileged children through the year. The event motivated and acknowledged talents of the underprivileged children. The Khel Khel Mein annual day event was filled with fun, frolic & excitement.

Mrs. Samina Khorakiwala said “It has been a very fruitful year for Khel Khel Mein across all its 14 centers in Mumbai slums where we have greatly benefitted underprivileged children aged 6-12 years. Khel Khel Mein aims for a child’s physical, psychological and social well-being through fun and learning. Teachers are trained to impart primary education to these underprivileged children through educative, informative, visually interactive and entertaining 10 hour modules. It feels proud to see these children imbibe and spread the seven peace human values through fun and play –Gratitude, Forgiveness, Love, Humility, Giving, Patience and Truth.”
Chief Guest Mrs. Femisa Arsiwalla said, “The concept of toy libraries for inculcating and cultivating values and good habits to underprivileged children through fun and play, is quite appealing. I am extremely elated to partake in the joy and smiles of these underprivileged children at the Khel Khel Mein Annual Day.”
Each Khel-Khel Mein centre benefits 125 underprivileged children and in total more than 1700 children annually. The programme channelizes the natural energy of pre adolescent children. It creates an environment which encourages underprivileged children to become emotionally and socially stable citizens capable of contributing in a positive way to their community.
