The international volunteer group ASEZ conducted a cleanliness campaign around Punjab University and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGI) in Chandigarh, making the streets clean. ASEZ is a university student volunteer group of the Church of God World Mission Society (led by Pastor Kim Joo Cheol, commonly known as Church of God).

An ASEZ official said, “Young people have come together to clean the foundation of life that God has created for humanity and to bring daily joys to their neighbors.”

On that morning, a total of approximately 250 people, including ASEZ members from Chandigarh and Punjab and local citizens, enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness campaign. They started from the PGI crossroads, carefully inspected the area in front of Punjab University, and further into the nearby forested area, collecting a total of 200 kilograms of household waste, including disposable plastic cups, straws, food packaging, snack bags, scrap paper, and cigarette butts. Upon learning about ASEZ’s volunteer work, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation actively supported the campaign with cleaning equipment such as gloves, masks, and garbage bags. Local residents passing by expressed their gratitude to the volunteers with smiles and greetings upon seeing the visibly clean streets.

Harmohinder Singh Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Congress, said that the young members of the Church of God World Mission Society are doing commendable work for the welfare of society. He acknowledged that the Church sets a strong and positive example by inspiring youth to love humanity and serve selflessly. He further stated that such service-oriented initiatives promote social harmony and responsibility and encouraged the Church to continue its good work for societal betterment. ASEZ member Priya Joseph said with a big smile, “All volunteer activities are carried out with deep faith and a sense of social responsibility, inspired by the teachings of our Heavenly Mother.” She explained that the Heavenly Mother teaches them to love humanity, serve society selflessly, and care for the Earth as a shared home. The volunteer added, “We believe that true faith is expressed through service. Following the guidance of our Heavenly Mother, we actively participate in volunteer activities to bring positive change to society and spread the message of love, unity, and compassion through our actions.”

The areas around Punjab University and PGI are well-developed in terms of education, medical facilities, and politics and experience heavy crowds, making regular cleanliness essential. This voluntary effort by youth caring for the community will help raise civic awareness and is expected to contribute to a sustainable future for the Earth.
