RAIGARH (India CSR): A tragic and mysterious death has been reported from Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, where Tejram Bara, General Manager of GAIL (India) Limited, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a hotel room. Bara, who had travelled from Raipur for an official inspection of a gas pipeline project, was discovered unresponsive in Room No. 606 of Hotel Trinity Grand on Sunday morning. Despite being rushed to Jindal Hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of death, with the body sent for post-mortem examination.

Background: Senior GAIL Official on Official Visit to Raigarh

According to police reports, GAIL India Limited is currently laying a natural gas pipeline from Nagpur to Jharsuguda, passing through parts of Chhattisgarh. As part of the inspection team, Tejram Bara arrived in Raigarh on October 25 to review the ongoing pipeline construction work.

He checked into Hotel Trinity Grand, located on Kotra Road, and was staying alone in Room No. 606. Originally from Bilaspur’s Mangla Road, Bara lived with his wife and daughter in Raipur, where he was stationed as the General Manager of the GAIL regional office.

The Morning of the Incident: Calls Went Unanswered

The incident came to light on October 26, when Bara’s wife repeatedly tried to contact him over the phone but received no response. Growing concerned, she contacted the hotel staff and requested them to check on her husband.

When the staff used a master key card to open the room, they were shocked to find Bara lying unconscious on the floor beside the bed. The hotel management immediately alerted emergency services and transported him to Jindal Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death during preliminary examination.

Police Action: Case Registered and Post-Mortem Ordered

Following the hospital’s report, Kotra Road Police were notified of the incident. Officers arrived at the scene, conducted an initial inspection, and registered a marg (unnatural death) case under relevant provisions.

The body has been sent to Raigarh District Hospital for post-mortem, and the report is expected to reveal the exact cause of death — whether it was due to a medical condition, poisoning, or any other reason.

Raigarh Superintendent of Police confirmed that all angles are being investigated. “We are awaiting the post-mortem report. The cause of death can only be confirmed after the medical examination,” an official said.

Family and Colleagues in Shock

As the news of Bara’s sudden demise spread, several GAIL India officials from Raipur and Bilaspur rushed to Raigarh. His brother, who resides in Bilaspur, also arrived at the hotel to assist police and complete formalities.

Sources within GAIL described Bara as a respected and senior professional known for his dedication and integrity. “It’s a huge loss to our organization. He was deeply involved in the gas pipeline project,” one official shared.

Investigation Underway: Police Await Forensic Findings

Police have sealed the hotel room and collected forensic samples from the site. The hotel CCTV footage and entry logs are being reviewed to verify if anyone entered or exited the room before the incident.

No signs of forced entry or struggle have been reported so far. However, officers are not ruling out any possibility until the autopsy and forensic reports are received.

Investigators are also examining Bara’s medical history and electronic devices for any clues that could shed light on the circumstances leading to his death.

A Tragic End to an Official Mission

Tejram Bara’s visit to Raigarh was routine and official, but it ended in an unexpected tragedy. While the police and forensic teams work to uncover the truth, his death has left both his family and GAIL India colleagues in deep grief.

The case has raised questions about the safety and health monitoring of employees working on remote assignments. As investigations continue, authorities hope to provide clarity to the bereaved family and colleagues mourning the loss of a dedicated officer.
