Global summit highlights India’s food processing potential, sustainability push, and international partnerships

NEW DELHI (India CSR): The four-day World Food India 2025 summit concluded on Sunday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, securing investment commitments worth over Rs 1.02 lakh crore. The event marked a major milestone for India’s growing food processing industry, bringing together global leaders, policymakers, corporate executives, and innovators to shape the future of food and agriculture.

Prime Minister Highlights India’s Role in Global Food Security

Inaugurating the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s rising role as a trusted global food supplier. He highlighted the country’s agricultural diversity, growing consumer demand, and enabling policy framework including 100% FDI in food processing, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, and Mega Food Parks.

The Prime Minister also released credit-linked subsidies worth Rs 2,518 crore to 26,000 entrepreneurs under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, reinforcing government support for small-scale businesses and grassroots innovators.

Massive Investment Commitments Signed

During the event, Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over Rs 1,02,000 crore were signed—one of the largest investment rounds in India’s food sector to date. These commitments span areas such as food fortification, nutraceuticals, start-up incubation, and advanced processing technologies.

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries also inked collaborations with leading academic and research institutions like NIFTEM-T and NIFTEM-K, supporting technology transfer and skill development in the sector.

CEO Roundtable Discusses Sustainability and Innovation

A high-profile CEO Roundtable, co-chaired by Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Chirag Paswan, brought together over 100 CEOs from Indian and global companies. Discussions focused on sustainable investments, biodegradable packaging, waste valorization, blue economy opportunities, and logistics reforms aimed at improving global competitiveness of Indian food exports.

Strengthening Global Partnerships

The summit also featured government-to-government (G2G) dialogues, with delegations from Russia, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Maldives, Portugal, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Eswatini, Côte d’Ivoire, and Kuwait. These meetings explored collaboration in agriculture, food processing, and trade partnerships, strengthening India’s international outreach.

Technical Sessions and Food Regulators Summit

Over 40 technical sessions were organized, covering emerging categories such as plant-based foods, nutraceuticals, pet food, alcoholic beverages, and specialty foods.

The 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit focused on modernizing food safety through digital tools for risk management, next-generation regulatory skills, public-private partnerships, and strategies to address obesity and nutrition-related challenges.


Record Business Engagements and Seafood Show

The event hosted more than 10,500 B2B meetings, 261 G2G meetings, and 18,000+ reverse buyer-seller interactions, drawing a footfall of nearly 95,000 participants.

Running parallel to World Food India, the 24th India International Seafood Show was inaugurated by Union Minister Chirag Paswan. It highlighted India’s growing potential in seafood exports through technical sessions and buyer-seller meets with international stakeholders.


India Emerging as a Global Food Hub

With record investments, international participation, and focus on innovation, World Food India 2025 reinforced India’s position as a global hub for food processing, research, and sustainable growth. The summit set the stage for future opportunities in agribusiness, food technology, and cross-border trade partnerships.
