The Steel Company set a Benchmark in Industry-Aligned Skilling and Vocational Training
Driving Skilling in Decarbonisation, Circular Economy, and Advanced Technologies
NEW DELHI (India CSR) – Jindal Steel has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the country’s first diversified large enterprise and the first integrated steel manufacturer to be recognised as an Awarding Body by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
This recognition marks a significant step in bridging education with employment by aligning vocational training standards to real industry needs. The agreement between NCVET and Jindal Steel grants the company pan-India jurisdiction as an Awarding Body in the Large Indian Enterprise/MNC category.
Empowering Industry-Aligned Skilling
With this recognition, Jindal Steel gains the authority to design and implement vocational standards across sectors. The programmes will be in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Credit Framework, ensuring that qualifications are formally recognised for credit transfer and career mobility.
The company intends to focus on next-generation domains such as decarbonisation, circular economy practices, and advanced technologies. These skilling initiatives aim to prepare India’s workforce for the challenges of green energy transition, sustainable infrastructure, and global competitiveness.

Bridging Education and Employment
As an Awarding Body, Jindal Steel will set structured skilling pathways that integrate classroom learning with industry-driven practical exposure. This approach addresses one of India’s most pressing gaps – the mismatch between educational outcomes and employability requirements.
By introducing outcome-based standards and certification, the company will enable workers to gain globally portable credentials, strengthening career mobility and recognition in India and abroad. The framework also fosters interdisciplinary learning and capacity development across multiple sectors.

Strengthening National Workforce Development

By aligning vocational education with actual industry demand, Jindal Steel aims to support the Government of India’s vision of creating a future-ready workforce, fostering entrepreneurship, and advancing India’s role as a leader in clean energy and modern manufacturing.
