15% Higher Emission Reductions, 49% Energy from Renewables, and 130% Growth in Women Workforce
GURUGRAM (India CSR): Nxtra Data Limited (“Nxtra by Airtel”), a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, has released its Sustainability Report for FY 2024-25, showcasing significant progress in environmental responsibility, social inclusion, and governance.
Major Environmental Achievements
Nxtra achieved 188,507 tCO2e emission reductions, representing a 15% year-on-year improvement. Nearly half (49%) of energy consumption across its core data centre facilities was sourced from renewable alternatives.
The company also contracted a massive 482,800 MWh of renewable energy, three times higher than its baseline year of 2021. In addition, Nxtra reduced its Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) by 10%, marking improved energy efficiency in data centre operations.
Ashish Arora, CEO – Nxtra by Airtel, highlighted:
“At Nxtra, sustainability is a core business imperative embedded into every design, build, and operation decision. This year, we became the first data centre and only the 14th company in India to join the global RE100 initiative, committing to 100% renewable energy.”
Social Inclusion and Workforce Development
The report highlights Nxtra’s NxtWave initiative, which focuses on enhancing women’s participation in engineering roles. Under this programme, the women workforce grew by 130% in FY 2024-25.
The company also strengthened workplace culture, achieving an employee engagement score of 85/100. It ensured 6.15 million safe person-hours in construction activities, reflecting its commitment to worker safety.
Governance and Supply Chain Transparency
Nxtra reinforced governance by prioritizing transparency and accountability across its value chain. It ensured that 99% of its suppliers were India-based, strengthening local economies. Additionally, ESG assessments were conducted for 98% of strategic suppliers, ensuring sustainability standards are embedded at every level.
