MUMBAI (India CSR): Kotak Education Foundation (KEF), the CSR implementing agency of Kotak Mahindra Group, has launched a large-scale capacity building programme for teachers across more than 300 PM SHRI schools in Maharashtra, spanning 13 districts, the foundation said.
The initiative seeks to empower educators with leadership skills, innovative pedagogy, and digital tools, enabling them to create stronger learning environments. The programme focuses on four areas—leadership development, foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), communicative English, and pedagogical technology (PedTech).
“At the heart of the programme lies our commitment to support teachers in helping students achieve the learning outcomes defined under NIPUN Bharat,” KEF said in a statement.
The capacity-building model includes regular school visits for continuous guidance, classroom assistance, and interactive workshops that promote innovation and outcome-based learning.
“Through the PM SHRI Capacity Building Programme, we are investing in our greatest asset, our teachers. By equipping them with leadership skills, innovative pedagogies, and foundational learning, we are not just enhancing classroom learning, we are shaping futures,” said Ms. Sangita Dandapat, Project Head, FLN, KEF.
The PM SHRI scheme, launched by the Government of India, aims to develop over 14,500 exemplar schools with modern pedagogy, safe infrastructure, and inclusive learning in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Marking two decades of impact, KEF implements holistic education, scholarships, and vocational training programmes. In Maharashtra and other states, its flagship initiatives—Project KSHAMATA and Model School Project—align with NEP 2020 goals to integrate FLN, communicative English, digital learning, and leadership training.
With its sustained focus on teacher capacity building in PM SHRI schools, KEF said it is working to create long-term systemic transformation in the education sector.
