JSPL Chairman says over 5 lakh children, 11,000 girls and 30,000 students have benefited from Foundation’s education and scholarship programmes
RAIGARH (India CSR): Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), on Thursday reaffirmed the group’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), announcing that a modern skill development centre will be set up in Raigarh (Chhattisgarh) within two years to equip local youth with employable skills.
Speaking after unfurling the national flag at the company’s Raigarh plant on the 79th Independence Day, Jindal said education, training, and empowerment form the foundation of the company’s CSR strategy.
This initiative aims to empower local youth with modern skills, enabling them to become self-reliant and integrate with the mainstream of development.
The JSPL Chairman said the company’s CSR and educational initiatives are designed to ensure that industrial growth is aligned with community welfare, especially in the areas of skill development, education, and youth empowerment.
He highlighted the role of Jindal Foundation, led by Shallu Jindal, in delivering large-scale impact. “The Foundation has developed infrastructure in 254 schools and over 500 Anganwadi centres, directly benefiting more than five lakh children,” he said.
According to Jindal, the Foundation’s ‘Yashasvi’ programme has provided financial support to more than 11,000 girls across five states to pursue higher and vocational education. In addition, over 30,000 students have received scholarships under the O.P. Jindal and Savitri Devi Jindal scholarship schemes.
The Chairman further pointed to the contribution of the group’s universities — O.P. Jindal Global University in Sonipat and O.P. Jindal University in Raigarh — which have emerged as leaders in higher education and research.
“Industrial growth must go hand in hand with community progress. Our CSR initiatives are designed to create opportunities, uplift communities, and build a stronger India,” Jindal said.
