NEW DELHI: Rajeev Sharma, CMD, Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd (REC) a Public Sector Enterprise, inaugurated the final batch of Skill Development training programme of unemployed youth from weaker sections of society under its CSR initiatives at The Construction Industry Development Council facility in Faridabad, on 12th Dec 2012.
REC entered into an MoU with the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) for Skill up-gradation and on job training linked with sustainable development for generation of 1000 livelihoods for unemployed rural/ semi urban youths from weaker sections of the society in the month of February, 2012.
Beneficiaries from six states, namely, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh will be covered under this MoU. 500 trainees have completed the training modules and been successfully placed in jobs in various trades of construction industry.
Remaining 500 trainees are under various stages of training and placement. The project will help alleviate poverty from rural & semi urban India, thereby improving the standards of living of the youth.
Under this project, 90-day job oriented residential trainings are imparted, with free lodging and boarding, in various trades of construction industry like masonry, shuttering, carpentry, bar-bender, painter, general works supervisor, electrician, plumber, land surveyor, safety inspector, store Keeper, site accountant and lab technician, in various centers located in Faridabad, Ghaziabad, ITI Palwal, Sidhauli, Gorakhpur & Ramshahpur. The trainees are awarded certificates, identity cards, and are offered placement in the Construction Industry.
