The groups belonging to Congress and YSR Congress on one side and the Telugu Desam Party on the other had clashed earlier on Sunday over the same issue at Parawada after which they staged separate demonstrations near the police station. Following tension, prohibitory orders under Section 144 were imposed.
The fishermen of Mutyalammapalem led an agitation under the leadership of TDP leaders sometime ago, following which the NTPC management promised to provide 60 jobs.
This led to demand by the Congress and the YSR Congress for a separate quota of jobs for their supporters. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Later, an informal meeting was held with revenue and police officials to hammer out an amicable solution over sharing of jobs among various groups.
