India CSRRUDRAPUR: Keeping its commitment to  sensitize  corporate world towards  their  social  responsibility and  to develop sustainable, social, rural & ethical  business culture  through “Strategic CSR”,   Green Earth Alliance (GEA)  organised  another day long thought provoking conference on “CSR Essentials” in Industrial town  of Uttarakhand  “Rudrapur” on 30th April, 2012  in association with  “Uttarakhand Open University”, “FICCI- Aditya Birla CSR Center of Excellence” with support from “Tata Motors”, Rudrapur Unit.

Welcoming the guests/delegates coming from all over India comprising from “Corporate/Pvt. sector, NGOs, CSOs, INGOs, Federations, Trade, Chambers,  MSMEs , Media, Govt. etc.”  CEO  Green Earth Alliance, Anil Jaggi briefed them about the vision and  mission of Green-Earth Alliance &  the importance of having responsible business   organisations  for social and economic inclusive of “Aam Aadmi”.

Detailed  presentation was given on CSR, ISO-26000, OECD, GRI, Indian Voluntary Guidelines etc. along with many CSR case studies across the country by Anil Jaggi.

What is CSR,  how  to move ahead with strategic CSR , business case of CSR and how it can benefit  the business houses on long run to build  their brand image with their responsible  and ethical behaviour   were the  important aspects covered  in the presentation of Anil Jaggi.

Tata  group is a strong believer  for their commitments  for society they work and  toward  various stakeholders and is working religiously on such  issues and address them  with local  stakeholders right  from the inception of the group from 18th Century, highlighted Chief Guest of the meet Mr. Nitin B. Tilak, GM Tata Motors Ltd.  Mr Tilak also assured their support for such endeavour in the future for the prosperity of Uttarakhand, especially by employing its youths, who are otherwise  migrating to big cities like Delhi and Mumbai for petty  jobs.

CSR Commitment of all Tata companies  is  keeping them ahead of any kind of competition, said Tilak

Urgency of  linking livelihood with  corporate  functioning  should  be  essential part of CSR framework , mentioned  Prof. Vinay Pathak, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Open University and also assured the support of UOP  for  such  endeavour.

India CSRA case  study of  integrated development in a village  “Charba”, Near Dehradun  by IIT-R Students was  shown  by Prof. Vinay Nangia  from FMS, IIT-Roorkee. Dedicated and strategic  plan  can  transform  the region, if  problems are identified and  then addressed under proper guidance, mentioned Prof. Nangia.

Promoting Rural Livelihood with Sustainable Business can  transform the society in a big way, the way Patanjali is working,  said S.K. Patra , President and CEO Patanjali Auyurved Ltd. A Future plan of Patanjali was shared  by Patra to develop rural economic with  responsible  approach.

Social Entrepreneur Manoj Shrama shared his experience of developing micro level rural model and how such small  yet,  powerful initiatives can improve  living conditions of the hill folks.

Rajeev Khanna, Sr. Media professional shown  his  concern  for pro-active role  of  media in improving  the  working synergy between Corporate and civil society group.

Rajeev Singhal, Ajeevika project (Govt. of Uttarakhand) shared the experience of improving rural livelihood by adopting various micro and macro level initiatives in 13 blocks of Uttarakhand. Grassroots experiences ware shared by Ajeevika’s network and  federations  working in Chamoli, Pithoragarh , Tehri and Almora regions.

Arun Nautiyal  of  Azim Premji  Foundation shared practical experience of working with rural Govt. schools in Uttarakhand and how  the foundation is  applying  new  and innovative methodology to  transform  education and making it more meaningful.

Ritesh Garg, the youngest participant shared his revolutionary concept of  grooming young entrepreneurs in the mountain state by taking our Jagriti Yatra’s of 2000 kms,  in the mountain state  to motivate  young  people.

How  the  CSR initiatives of  Tata Motors, Ashok Layland and Maruti  with  Haldwani based  Training Center “SMART SKILLS”is changing the landscape of employment scenario for youth of Uttarakhand  was mentioned  by Prof. KK Pande, which   was  further  endorsed by  Director of Smart Skills, Deepak Bist.

Working on social justice  and micro level entrepreneurs ,  president of  Delhi based NGO  “JUSWANT”,  Swaran Jaggi spoke  about  small  impact by their  Solar energy products which  are saving energy and helping rural masses to get required energy at their doorsteps.

Prof. Rakesh Mudgul, Registrar, TM University/Moradabad also raised his  concern on academia to improve working relations between Corporate world and  social sector through strategic CSR initiatives.

Kamla Pant, President PAHAL NGO, appreciated  the efforts done  by responsible business houses in Uttrakhand regions and participating and supporting organisations  IndiaCSR, 4th Wheel, Organic Services, SFID, Kumoun Chamber of Commerce and Industry etc. and also thanked all participants for coming to Uttarakhand and  extending their support  for its  equitable growth.
