MUMBAI: Gitanjali gems Ltd won the Blue Dart Global CSR Award for ‘Best Corporate Social Responsibility Practice Overall’ at a glittering ceremony on 18th February 2012 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The Hon’ble Union Minister of Corporate Affairs, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily presented the global CSR award, which was part of the 1st World CSR Day to Mayuri Asar , Senior Manager – Corporate Social Responsibility, Gitanjali Gems Ltd .
With the theme of CSR – A Way forward & Public- Private Partnership for a Greener Planet, the Global CSR Awards recognized the organizations that have made a significant and positive impact on the lives of people around them. The Global CSR award aims at assessing the extent of integration of CSR concerns with corporate functioning; responsiveness to the needs of different stakeholders and development of innovative models to fulfil social responsibilities.
The approach of SAMBHAV –the CSR wing of Gitanjali Gems Limited is oriented to identify and formulate projects in response to felt societal needs in diverse areas and to implement them with full involvement and commitment . In alignment with vision of the company GGL through its CSR initiatives, will continue to enhance value creation in the society and in the community in which it operates, through its services, conduct & initiatives, so as to promote sustained growth for the society and community, in fulfilment of its role as a Socially Responsible Corporate.
