Sponge : Leadership Lessons I Learnt from My clients

NEW DELHI: Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida organised an interactive session with Ambi Parmeswaran about his latest book, Sponge – Leadership lessons I learnt from my Clients on August 29, 2018.

Ambi Parameswaran is a brand coach and brand strategist and the founder of Brand-Building.com, a brand advisory company. He has handled assignments in marketing, sales and advertising with companies like Rediffusion, DY&R, Boots Company and UDI Yellow Pages. He served as the CEO of FCB Ulka from 2003 to 2013 before moving out for his entrepreneurial venture –  Brand-Building.com.

SPONGE is an attempt to present the interesting conversations Ambi had with the veterans of the corporate world. This book is full of intriguing insider accounts of agency-client interactions, the strategy and thought behind their marketing moves, the mistakes, the successes, and the small details that teach us big and important things.

The event solicited the presence of Deepa Bhatia, founder DB21 I Media and Content Creation Consultancy, Dr. Anupam Varma, Deputy Director and Dean-Academics, Dr. Rajiv R. Thakur, Dean Development and Professor and other esteemed faculty. The audience was from a number of management institutions like GL Bajaj, Lloyd, Galgotias and Shiv Nadar University to name a few.

Ambi covered eight stories from his book, Sponge Leadership lessons I learned from my Clients, which motivated the students to become a Sponge in their real lives and absorb good things. He quoted that Students should have an inquisitive mind. They should always be keen to know the story behind the story. He encouraged the students to become a lifelong learner which will transform them to become a leader in their life.

Deepa Bhatia moderated the session and shared her learnings from the book with the students. She quoted that Students should listen, learn, write, imbibe and share their knowledge and experiences with others.

Students were excited to be a part of this session and one of them quoted, ‘This Sponge approach is innovative and unique and I will definitely use this in to upgrade myself.’

The session was an informative and learning experience for the budding managers and urged them to keep learning throughout and be a true leader.
