MUMBAI: The staff and employees of The Resort Madh-Marve pledged allegiance to the government’s ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by undertaking a massive clean-up drive at Aksa beach, Malad on October 2.

Aksa beach that boasts of one of the most pristine surroundings along the Arabian Sea, is a famous tourist destination with people often making a beeline to enjoy its idyllic ambience.

The Resort initiated the clean-up drive as part of its move to maintain the sanctity of the beach which lends the property its tranquil charm since The Resort is located right near Aksa. While the Brihanmaharashtra Municipal Corporation (BMC) carries out a regular mechanical cleaning of the beach, it is man-made litter and waste that are the real culprits in spoiling the purity of the beach.

Even as the team from The Resort rolled up their sleeves and dealt with the trash on the beach, it caught the eye of many a passers-by who showed keenness to join the drive. While contributing towards the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was one of the aims of the clean-up drive, it also focussed upon encouraging people around to be a part.

Satyajit Kotwal, General Manager, The Resort, said, “The BMC takes a lot of efforts to maintain Aksa beach. But we often notice that is actually common people who end up making the beach filthy. It is our duty as citizens to keep the beach clean. Our employees are doing it now and we hope that more and more people join in the effort and we can maintain this beach with their participation.”

The Resort is known for its serene location near Aksa beach and is often flocked by people who wish to seek respite from the bustling urban life while being in the city itself. “This beach makes our property a perfectly peaceful destination and we are lucky to have such a setting. We hope that more and more people as well as organisations take up such initiatives and there is awareness about cleanliness of beaches. We wish to set out an example so that others too can take up such causes and together we can make a difference to the environment,” said Kotwal.

The Resort, Madh-Marve, Mumbai is a luxury beach resort, a getaway located on Aksa beach facing the Arabian Sea.
