NEW DELHI: The Narain Dharmarth Aushdhalaya Trust supports the causes and people from various fields like Healthcare, Conservation of the Natural Environment and Education. The Narain Dharmarth Aushdhalaya Trust was founded in 1950 by Shri Narain Dutt, a social activist described as “The Grand Old Man of Delhi” by the ‘Hindustan Times’., The Trust supports action for improving conditions of socially, economically and physically deprived people.
Award function will be held at India International Centre, New Delhi on May 20, 2013.
Dr. Ashok Khosla, who will receive the award for Development Alternatives, chairs the Board of the thirty-year-old Development Alternatives Group and is the Co-Chair of the United Nation’s International Resource Panel. He has held many international positions such as President, International Union for the Conservation of Nature and President, Club of Rome.
At this occasion, Dr. Khosla will share his views and thoughts on Eco-Solutions for People and the Planet.
The Narain Dutt Award for the Conservation of Nature, instituted by the Narain Dharmarth Aushdhalaya Trust acknowledges the contribution of extraordinary human beings and institutions working towards natural conservation and service to humanity.
This year, Development Alternatives Group has been selected by The Narain Dharmarth Aushdhalaya Trust for exemplary work in conservation of natural resources and promoting sustainable development in India and the world.
The award will be given by Ms. Kapila Vatsyayan, the founder-director of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
Development Alternatives (DA) is a premier social enterprise with a global presence in the fields of green economic development, social equity and environmental management. It is credited with numerous technology and delivery system innovations that help create sustainable livelihoods in the developing world. The ceremony will also have Mr Vijay Bhushan, trustee and great-grandson of the founder of the Trust who will start the programme by giving the introduction of the Trust and the Award.
