Kolkata/ Anugul : Tension prevailed here at the site of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) as hundreds of locals gathered at the site to oppose the accidental death of two contractual labourers on Saturday night.

The locals ransacked trucks at the site and three platoons of policed forces have been deployed in the area to defuse tension.

Two contractual workers of JSPL – Chandan Naik and Sarat Naik, engaged as supervisors at the company’s dumping works are reported to have died by being buried in the debris. While the body of Chandan Naik has already been recovered, all attempts are now being made to recover the body of the other deceased worker.

Terming the incident as unfortunate, company officials said that all efforts will be made to provide security to the workers and it will also be ensured that local employees do not work on night shifts.
