BENGALURU: Reliance Retail Limited, country’s leading retailer successfully conducted a nationwide Blood Donation Drive with the aim of raising awareness on the importance of blood donation. The campaign received an overwhelming response and support from consumers and employees. Reliance Retail has associated with organizations like Red Cross, Rotary Club (Delhi) and Swasthya Kalyan among others to ensure that the collected blood reaches the beneficiaries.
Employees from various formats of Reliance Retail were seen donating blood and also motivating the customers to donate blood for a good cause. The Blood Donation Drive was conducted through various formats of Reliance Retail across more than 50 stores in 35 cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore andKolkata among others as part of Reliance Retail’s community initiative. The drive attracted a large number of donors throughout the country and also managed to spread awareness about the need for blood donation.
Every year the country requires about 4 Crore units of blood, out of which only 40 Lakh units are being currently made available. There is no substitute for human blood and there is a need for 38,000 blood donations every day. Reliance, which is known for its commitment towards social causes,felt the need to make people aware of the situation of shortage of blood supply faced today in the country and has extended its effort to an initiative that will benefit thousands of people.
Reliance Retail Limited (RRL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited opened its first retail store in November 2006 and today operates more than 1,300 stores spread across 18 states with over 6.5 million square feet of retail space, serving over 2.5 million customers every week. RRL’s loyalty membership program Reliance One has over 9 million members.
