Kalinga Club, Jarada organizes the one-day mega football event, JSPL Foundation Supports, Friends Club, Sambalpur becomes champion.

ANGUL: Kalinga Club, Jarada organized a State Level One Day Knock-Out Football Tournament on October 18, 2014. Eight Teams from different districts of Odisha participated this one-day day mega event, that was supported by JSPL Foundation. In the nerve racking final match Friends Club Sambalpur won the match beating Redhakhol team by 02-00 goals.
Mr. Rabindra Nath Deo, SDPO, Angul presented the trophy and prizes to the winning and runners-up team. On behalf of JSPL, Mr. Ashish Pandey and Mr. Sunit Purohit were also present as Guest of Honour during the occasion. Among others Mr. Premananda Lenka, IIC of Jarpada Police Station; Mr. Swapneswar Singh, President of Jarada Samant Sahi; and Mr. Satrughna Das, Renowned Educationist were present on the dias during the prize distribution.
Speaking on this event, Mr. DK Saraogi, Executive Director & Location Head said, “By organizing such rural sports activities, JSPL attempts to promote rural sporting talents. Such state level tournaments give a lot of opportunities to players for learning new skills”. He congratulated the local villagers and Kalinga Club members for organizing this event and assured that JSPL will support such programmes in the locality in future.
The tournament was inaugurated in the morning by Mr. Premananda Lenka (IIC of Jarpada Police Station), in presence of villagers and players. Mr. Lenka, who is an excellent cricket player, energized the players with his spirited words during his inaugural address.
Participating teams were KCC of Jarada, Talamul, Friend’s Club Sambalpur, Maa Budhi Club of Angul, Turanga, Naranpur, Pataka and Redhakhol. The first semifinal of the tournament was played between Football Club of Sambalpur and Talmul teams in which Football Club of Sambalpur defeated Talmul by 02-00 goals. In second semifinal played, Redhakhol team defeated Narayanpur team by 03 goals.
The one-day tournament was witnessed by a huge gathering of villagers from Jarpada and other local villages. Members of Kalinga Club, Jarada along with the CSR&R team members of JSPL supported mega event.
