Jindal Steel and Power Adopts 3 Industrial Training Institutes in CG

RAIGARH: Jindal Steel & Power Limited (JSPL), Raigarh has adopted 3 ITI’s located in District Raigarh in the state of Chhattisgarh. These are ITI, Kharsia, ITI Saranggarh and ITI, Gharghoda. The company is committed to develop the basic infrastructure for the ITI’s, help in inducting new trainers and start job oriented vocational trades in these institutes. The adoption is under a public private participation Scheme of ministry of labour and employment of Government of India.

For running the institutes efficiently a high powered institute management committee has been created. A.K. Mukherjee , Executive Director (ED), JSPL, Raigarh will be Chairperson of the Committee’s formed for running ITI’s at Kharsia and Gharghoda. G.D.S. Sohal, Executive Director (ED), Cement Division will head the committee for ITI Saranggarh.

A. K. Mukherjee, ED, Jindal Steel & Power Limited, Raigarh said that under the Public-Private partnership Scheme of Ministry of labor and Employment, Government Of India these ITI’s have been adopted. The company is committed to develop the basic infrastructure for the ITI’s, help in inducting new trainers and start job oriented vocational trades in these institutes. The objective for adopting the ITI’s is to create trained and skillful manpower for the industries. These 3 ITI’s will add to the pool, of skilled manpower approximately 500 no of skillful manpower. The company is committed to provide and upgrade the basic infrastructure and other modern training facilities for these institutes.

ITI Kharsia: At present 3 trades are run these are 1. Electricians trade (Two Yearly). 2. Fitter trade (Two yearly). 3. Cutting and Tailoring ( 1 yearly) , The facilities for these trades will be upgraded by the company and employment oriented program for Computer operator and programming assistant (COPA), Diesel mechanic, Instrumentation mechanic, refrigeration and Air conditioning will be started. In addition to these 3 short term trade for carpentry, plumbing and Masonry will commence from August 18, 2008.

ITI Gharghoda: At present 3 trades are run. These are 1. Electrician’s trade. 2. Computer operator 3. COPA. The company will upgrade facilities for electricians trade and start the Fitter trade. Extra classes for COPA are to commence. The short term trade, (of 3 month duration) for carpentry, plumbing and masonry are to begin from August 18, 2008. Also the process of developing basic infrastructure like building etc and purchasing of machinery and equipment for initiating training trade for Diesel mechanic and Civil draftsman has started.

ITI Sarangarh: At present the traditional trades for electricians, Fitter and Cutting and COPA are being run. The short term trade, (of 3 month duration) for carpentry, plumbing and masonry are being planned here. The vocational trade that will be started in future here are Diesel mechanic, draftsman Civil, Instrumentation mechanic and refrigeration and air conditioning.              

Background:  To impart excellence in vocational training Ministry of Labor and Employment, GOI, started a Public Private Participation Scheme and a total of 1396 Industrial Training Institutes were short listed all over India. Under this scheme 13 ITI’s have been chosen in Chhattisgarh. As far as Raigarh is concerned there are 9 ITI’s Gharghoda , Kharsia, Saranggarh, Dharamjaygarh, Raigarh, Sariya, Pusour, ( Kasdol) Tamnar and Women ITI Raigarh. The state of Chhattisgarh has more than 70 ITI’s and for the country the no is more than 5405 with seats being offered here around 7.49 lakhs.
