RAIPUR (Chhattisgarh): India’s only CSR portal INDIACSR and The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chhattisgarh is organizing the first CSR Conclave, one of its own kind CSR management symposium in State of Chhattisgarh, one of the fastest developing states in India. The first CSR Conclave is scheduled on 18 April 2010 at The Babylon Inn, Raipur.
Prateek Pandey, CII Head Chhattisgarh State Office informed that leading international speaker Dr. Wayne Visser, Founder and Director of CSR International from UK will address the Conclave. He would speak on: “CSR: Past, Present and Future in India’s Context. “Dr. Wayne Visser is on a 30 Country ‘CSR Quest’ World Tour, to share best practices in Corporate Sustainability and Corporate Social responsibility (CSR). His Chhattisgarh visit is a part of his CSR Quest World Tour. He said, CII Chhattisgarh along with India CSR (www.indiacsr.in), which is promoting CSR communications in India, are hosting the CSR management symposium.
According to Dr. Wayne Visser, CSR has undoubtedly had many positive impacts, for communities and the environment. Yet, its success or failure should be judged in the context of the total impacts of business on society and the planet. Viewed this way, on virtually every measure of social, ecological and ethical performance we have available, the negative impacts of business have been an unmitigated disaster, which CSR has completely failed to avert or even substantially moderate.
“Despite its seemingly impressive steady march of progress in the past decades, CSR has failed. Furthermore, we are witnessing the decline of CSR, which will continue until its natural death, unless it is reborn and rejuvenated.” he said.
Senior officials of State Govt, top executive of Corporate, CSR professionals, member of NGOs, development agencies, Media persons and education professional will particpate in the conclave.
Delegates will gain insights on the trends and patterns on CSR globally and especially in the context of india, and will benefit from expert information in regard to CSR concept, planning, implementation, communication, environmental impacts, sustainability assessment, CR measurement, and employee engagement to upscale standards in their organization.
Dr. Wayne Visser is Founder and Director of the think-tank CSR International and the author/editor of nine books, including seven on the role of business in society, the most recent of which are The Top 50 Sustainability Books, Landmarks for Sustainability and The A to Z of Corporate Social Responsibility.
