RAJAHMURDY: The Organizing Committee of the Godavari 5K Run today announced the start of registrations for the inaugural edition, scheduled for April 12, 2015 at Rajahmundry.
The committee headed by Shri. Kali Kondury along with Shri. Maganti Muralimohan (Hon’ble Member of Parliament) and Smt. Rajani Seshasai, Hon’ble Mayor, the city of Rajahmundry unveiled the logo and Race T shirt for the event.
The Godavari 5K Run is an initiative to promote running as the primary form of fitness. The event is designed and developed to celebrate the spirit of Rajahmundry and the legendary river Godavari. The inaugural edition which is scheduled for April 12, 2015 is expected to see 5,000+ runners (elite and amateur) from across the state of Andhra Pradesh and the nation.
The event which is first of its kind in Rajahmundry will be Timed 5 K run with all participants receiving a RFID chip to measure individual time. Celebrities and people from all walks of life are expected to attend the event and promote the cause of fitness and active lifestyle. Top three finishers in different categories will receive cash prizes and each finisher will get a medal and certificate of participation.
Marking the start of registrations, Smt. Rajani Seshasai, Hon’ble Mayor, the city of Rajahmundry said “We are truly excited about Godavari 5K Run. We have an exciting event planned not only for runners, but for all citizens of the Rajahmundry area and the nation.
The event is planned to create awareness about healthy lifestyle and running. We invite runners of all abilities to register and participate in the 5K Run. We are confident that the 5 K run will receive a fantastic response in Rajahmundry”
Speaking on the occasion Shri Maganti Muralimohan, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, said: “This is a wonderful initiative to promote sports, wellness and health for the citizens of Rajahmundry and the state of Andhra Pradesh. We are looking forward to a great event on April 12, 2015”
