DHENKANAL: GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL), which operates the 1050 MW thermal power plant at Kamalanga, extended its helping hand to the land loser persons in Mangalpur Panchayat. In order to make them self-employed and generate more income, GKEL provided support to two land loser persons.
A moving chair and a saloon kit provided to Kaibalya Barik, a land loser person from Manpur village. Kaibalya has opened a saloon near the GKEL Township two years back with initial support from GKEL. With this additional support of a moving chair, Barber cloth, scissors, antiseptic saving cream, etc. he is now confident to run the saloon and is optimistic to earn about Rs.5000 per month.
Another land loser Padmanabha Behera from Barasahi village runs a cycle repairing shop. Considering his need GKEL has provided him cycle repairing equipment. Now he is confident of running the cycle repair cabin in a better way and is expecting to earn at least Rs 3500 per month. During the occasion two hearing aids also provided to old men who were unable to listen.
Nageswara Rao, Vice President, Project; Arabinda Pani, Associate Vice President, Operation & Maintenance (O& M); Sushant Sahoo-Associate General Manager, Safety and Dillip Kumar Kar, Associate General Manager, CSR, GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited handed over all equipment and wished them to run their business in a better manner.
