Sports event turns to be one of the spectaluar events for Angul Students & Parents
ANGUL (Odisha): The day-long athletic meet was kicked off at 9 am by hoisting of school flag by the chief guest and rendition of school song by the students, which was followed by a torch rally and march past by the pupils.
Inaugurating the event, Damodar Mittal, Executive Vice President, JSPL, Angul, said, “Competition is the heart and soul of sports. It helps the students to remain fit and energetic, besides providing a healthy platform for the children’s recreation.” “It also helps establish brotherhood and enhances fellow-feeling among the students,” he added. Throwing light on the importance of sports and games in a student’s life to enjoy a healthy body and mind, Mr. Chhanda Charana Das, Principal, OPJS, advised the children to participate more and more in such events enthusiastically.
It was a spectacular moment for the huge gathering of parents, school staff, guardians and pupils, who enjoyed whole-heartedly the school Kids recreating with their enthusiastic participation in various funny events.
Besides the athletic events, the students also presented various items including rhythmic dance, rhythmic drill, pyramid, aerobic exercise etc for the entertainment of the huge gathering of parents, teachers and students under the guidance of Sports Instructor Rishi Kumar Agasti & Yoga Instructor Rahul Kumar.
Among the other dignitaries present were Ashish Pandey, DGM, PMG, Captain Ajit Singh, Chief Security Officer, JSPL Dr. Saroj Kumar Mahapatra, VP (HR, P&A, JSPL), graced the Occasion as Guest of Honour.
The winners in various categories were awarded prizes. Giving away prizes to the participants from different houses of the school – Bhakti, Shakti, Mukti and Riti – Chief Guest of the Valedictory Function Goutam Chandra, EVP, Power Plant, JSPL, eulogised the organisers of the athletic meet for staging such a great sporting event which would go a long way in inspiring the small kids to take part in such events more and more in future.
Riti house stealing the show was declared the Champion of the event and Shakti House as Runners up in which 400 students participated. Sangeeta Sharma and Imran Parwez anchored the sporting event. The Event was was watched and encouraged by a thousand of local parents from Angul. The Annual Athletic Meet 2014-15 ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma. All the teaching & Non-teaching staff of OP Jindal School coordinated the function to a grand success.
