ANGUL: The ten-day long knock-out football tournament organized by the Jindal Officer Club (JOC) of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL) Angul, “Futsal Five-2014” comes to an end yesterday evening. The Gladiators won the final match by defeating Black Thunder by 1-0 goal. Executive Director In-Charge and Location Head of the unit Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, graced the final match as Chief-Guest and enjoyed the exciting evening with Jindal Mahila Samiti President Mrs. Sujata Saraogi, Mr. N.S Rao, Executive Director (Phase 1B), Mr. VK Rastogi, President (Power Plant), Mr. Damodar Mittal, Sr. V.P DRI and General Secretary Jindal Officers Club (JOC) in presence of the other departmental heads, Community Members and residents of Jindal Nagar.
JSPL in pursuant to its CSR mission has been promoting wide-scale sports and athletic promotion activities in 34 periphery villages through organization of inter-village cricket, hockey, football, Kabaddi and other tournaments. This year the company organized the football tournament among its employees and involved the local youth to be part of this sports event for an exposure.
Distributing the prizes to the winners, runners and players of the tournament Mr. Dinesh Kumar Saraogi said, “Football is the game which teaches us not only the skill of team building but also achieving the goals within a stipulated and fixed time frame. The tournament reflects sportsman spirit of JSPL”.
This most coveted sporting event of JSPL was started on 2nd of April and total 16 teams comprising best players from all the departments of JSPL and its associate companies clubbed together to make this tournament a memorable one.
To make this evening more exciting and memorable there were programmes like Tug-of-War between HoDs of Phase 1A Vs Phase 1B, DJ beats and surprise events for kids and others were also organized.
This Extravaganza tournament was organized under the supervision of JOC General Secretary Mr. Damodar Mittal, JOC Sports Secretary, Capt. Ajit Singh along with other office bearers and team members of JOC.
