PUNE: Continuing their journey of helping children with Cerebral Palsy in Satara, Finolex Industries and their CSR Partner Mukul Madhav Foundation (MMF) are now providing physiotherapy sessions at Satara taluka, district Satara. Currently, the Zila Parishad in Satara already has a fully equipped set-up. However, to ensure a stronger facilitation of services, support is being extended by Finolex Industries and MMF by bringing in expert physiotherapists from Sancheti Hospital, Pune.
Adding on to the current setup, the intention of this move is to see an increase in the number of children benefitting from the aid provided. To ensure regular care for these children, doctors will travel every Wednesday to Satara to provide their services.
Extremely elated on having successfully started a second center in this district, Mrs. Ritu Prakash Chhabria- Managing Trustee, Mukul Madhav Foundation, says, “We are very thankful to the authorities, especially the CEO, Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh and the Education Officer, Mrs. Punita Gurav, who have constantly supported our venture. On our inauguration day, 19 children availed of our services. We hope to spread the word slowly and gradually and reach every child who needs us in Satara. Our first centre is running successfully at Mirajkar Hospital in Wai, and very soon we plan to open our third centre, in Patan taluka. Moreover, we are providing speech therapy at the Wai centre and will hopefully introduce this service at Satara too.”
The next camp for assessment is scheduled on Friday, 30 December 2016, at the Zila Parishad School Ramapur No. 2, Patan taluka, Satara, 10 AM onwards. In this project, MMF will be partnering up with Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed University and Faculty of Physiotherapy, Karad. The camp will also have orthopedic doctors from Sancheti Hospital, Pune, and a team of Physiotherapists from Krishna Hospital, Karad, who will suggest the line of treatment, based on diagnosis. The rehabilitation centre at Patan will be operated on a weekly basis, henceforth.
This project is currently a little over a year old and has, thus far, reached out to over 500 children with Cerebral Palsy in the district. The Company aims to set up taluka level rehabilitation centers all over the district. It is important to mention that a company like Finolex is doing exactly as is expected from the CSR domain and has all its employees, dealers and representatives involved in their CSR work. In this district alone, Finolex dealers and representatives have travelled to remote villages to find these children and help them, where even the system fails to reach. This initiative has been a one-of-a-kind intervention, which has involved everyone emotionally and physically, to help Cerebral Palsy children lead better and more independent lives.
