MUMBAI: Diageo and British Council, today, announced the launch of the ‘Young Women Social Entrepreneurship Development Programme’ to empower underprivileged women in India. The programme aims to train women on social entrepreneurship by providing them with necessary tools, innovative methodologies and best practices that will attract more young women or improve the skills of those already participating in this space. With this project, Diageo India and British Council will partner to create and deliver a sustainable model that will impact multiple layers of women amongst different communities to create a ripple effect.
This initiative will start by identifying young women Master Trainers, assess their development needs, develop and impart a training module that uses innovative methodologies and best practices to increase their knowledge and capabilities. Thereafter, we will support the Master Trainers to further train and facilitate skills development of active young people with the aim to promote creativity, innovation, employability and growth of an entrepreneurial spirit.
In total we expect to train 1,000 participants on social enterprise, focused on practical application and shared learning on the topics of management, finances, communications, leadership, marketing and fundraising, and ensure consistency in approach, quality and content.
‘One billion women will enter the global economy during the coming decade, many will not have received proper education or the opportunity to develop professional skills.
