CII and UNICEF jointly organising conference ‘Implementing Right to Education: Role of corporate India’ on 14 December

NEW DELHI: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with UNICEF is organising a conference ‘Implementing Right to Education: Role of corporate India’ on Tuesday, 14th December 2010 at Indian Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

The financial year 2010 – 2011 started with the notification of India’s first fundamental right exclusive for children – The Right to Education. Slated as the most powerful rights on education globally, it is a welcoming step making free, compulsory and quality education a fundamental right for every child.

Corporate India, to its credit, has always stressed heavily on Education – be it through their foundations or as part of their sustainability teams. With RTE as an encompassing legislation, the need of the hour now is to develop a synergy to optimize the resources being deployed by Government and the corporate world to achieve the objective of universalisation of education. The ideal way forward will be to seek partnerships that will strengthen the process of providing free, compulsory and quality education to all children irrespective of their caste, gender and social standing.

CII in partnership with UNICEF has envisaged the conference – ‘Implementing Right to Education: Role of corporate India’ with the aim to discuss, deliberate and spread awareness on the evident importance of the Role of Corporate in making Right to education a reality in India and to showcase some stellar examples of the existing corporate initiatives in the field of education.

The one-day conference will have representation from Government, corporate leaders and civil society with all actively participating in panel discussions on understanding RTE better; highlighting work that corporate India is doing for education; and brainstorming on role of corporate in ensuring RTE act becomes a reality.

The conference is a must for CSR experts, corporate foundations, MSW students, SMEs etc.
