RAIPUR: Conducting needs assessment is an imperative step in running a successful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
BIMTECH, Greater Noida, a premier management institute, recently conducted CSR Needs Assessment for Jamul Cement plant of ACC Limited in Chhattisgarh. ACC’s Jamul cement plant is situated in Jamul taluk in Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
A CSR Needs Assessment team led by N.N.Sharma, Associate Professor & Chairperson, India Centre for Public Policy (ICPP), Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) visited surrounding villages and met project effected people, common villagers to understand community needs on socio-economic aspects. Assessment team organized group discussions with villagers of various age groups specially with women.
N.N.Sharma informed, “This assessment will help ACC Limited in selecting CSR interventions as per community needs. Developing a needs assessment of CSR is the first step in exploring a community action plan. We learned a lot during meeting with people on various aspects of industrial development in Chhattisgarh.”
The Jamul Cement Works (JCW) of ACC Limited had started its production in the year 1965. JCW has obtained environmental clearance from MoEF vide letter no. J-11011/251/2008-IA-II (I) Dated 11th January, 2013 to produce 3 MTPA Clinker and 1.5 MTPA Cement (PSC & PPC).
