NEW DELHI: The Agha Khan SCALE (Sustainable Community-based Approaches to Livelihood Enhancement) program concluded with a workshop at Shangri La’s Hotel in Delhi on 1st November 2012. The program was inaugurated by Rowland Roome, CEO of Agha Khan Foundation who emphasized on Social Return on Investment (SROI) and spoke widely about Water Management initiatives and accomplishments of Development Support Center (DSC).
Abad Ahmad Chairman of Agha Khan Foundation continued with listing the wide range of activities undertaken by the foundation such as Sustainable and empowered community investment, livestock development, income generating opportunity. He also briefed about partnership between European Union and Indian Government at National and State level sor the SCALE project and raised concern to increase the convergence of health, education and livelihood which is primarily addressed by SCALE. He promoted PPP approach during sub-policy engagement and insisted to have voice of public in this approach. He concluded by thanking Joao Cravinho, Ambassador of EU to India for extending partnership and long term involvement of the European Union in Agha Khan Foundation.
A film on the diverse activities performed by SCALE was played. SCALE was supported by Pradhan, Andhra Pradesh Government, AKRSP, Madhya Pradesh Government and EU. During the event “Endeavours of Change” book was launched which covers Successful Social initiatives.
Joao Cravinho, EU Ambassador to India shed light over the 50 years of EU and India cooperation for inclusive and environment friendly growth. He mentioned about European Unions support to Government initiatives such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with €200 ml, Health initiatives with €110 ml and about €80ml to the State Governments of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The day long event was attended by various people in the development sector.
