This conference is an extension to a multi- disciplinary research project entitled “Possibilities of Religious Pluralism” funded by Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA). This project is focused on how democratic societies deal with and come to terms with diversity, competition and conflict in various aspects of social life.

Pluralism as a condition has become one of the most pressing issues in today’s world. Globalization has led to cultural diversity and a heterogeneous society. International migration has posed society to think whether they should retain pluralism or alter it.

The conference aims to indicate present and future transformations of pluralism in the rapidly changing democratic societies across the world. The conference will be represented by academicians, researchers, activists and policy makers who are working in the field of democratization, cultural diversity and pluralism.
