To felicitate the Sahiyyas for their work “Sahiyya Sammelan” was organized on 14March, 2012 at Samudaik Bhavan, Seraikella. Around 170 Sahiyyas were present in the Sammelan.
JAMSHEDPUR: Under the Public Private partnership, a pilot project MANSI (Maternal and Newborn Survival Initiative) is being implemented by TSRDS in 167 villages of Seraikella block with support from American India Foundation (AIF) and in collaboration with Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Jharkhand. The project aims at reduction in Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) with community based interventions. Sahiyyas, volunteers at the village level are key persons in this endeavor.
To felicitate the Sahiyyas for their work “Sahiyya Sammelan” was organized on 14March, 2012 at Samudaik Bhavan, Seraikella. Around 170 Sahiyyas were present in the Sammelan. An exhibition on the equipments and IEC materials used by them was also conducted on the occasion. In the Sammelan, some Sahiyyas described how their efforts had save pregnant mothers and ailing infants.
Chief Guest for the program was Sangram Besra, Deputy Development Commissioner of Seraikella Kharswan District. Guest of Honor was Dr S.S Harijan, Civil Surgeon, Seraikella Kharsawan.
Dr K K Segal District RCH officer, Mr Binay Kumar, District Program Manager, Mr DC Mahato, District Program Coordinator and ANMs of Seraikella were also present.
From Tata Steel, Dr PC Mohapatra, Head, Family Initiatives & Health and Dr Pushpa Tiwari, Sr.Registrar, FI & Health were present along with project staff of MANSI.
