MUMBAI : Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power Company, has always strived hard to positively impact the lives of the communities living around its operational and project areas. Continuing this philosophy, Tata Power organised employability skills training programme – CareerReady in association with Antarang Foundation for the youth in Dharavi.
The first two batches of the training programme successfully trained over 40 students on career oriented courses of their choice. Ms Anjali Vazir, Head CR (MO), Tata Power awarded the certificates to the students for the successful completion of their courses.
The CareerReady programme, whole heartedly supported by Tata Power provides a strong foundation to the students in basic work-skills and spoken english. Additionally, the students are provided complete assistance in various vocational programmes to help them be trained as beauticians, baristas and drivers in leading sectors.
The Antarang Foundation, which specialises in presenting the Employability Programme to the youth of Dharavi provided excellent support to Tata Power to ensure that students are well trained in their respective fields and are placed with desired employment.
Speaking on the noble initiative, Ashok Sethi, Executive Director – Operations, Tata Power, said, “We at Tata Power, always believe in empowering youth with the right skill set and desired qualities for better job opportunities leading them towards a brighter future. The CareerReady programme is a great step in ensuring a great future for the under privileged students of Dharavi.
The training programme will ensure that local youths will have a plethora of opportunities for their future and will be able to shape their career in a better manner. We are extremely happy witnessing the enthusiasm shown by the first batch and will work hard along with Antarang Foundation to offer better opportunities for the future batches”
The graduation event was held on the 8th of April 2015 at the SASMIRA Auditorium, Worli and was well-attended by the proud parents and other members of the communities. The second batch of students are undergoing the training and will be placed by mid-June of the present year.
CareerReady Programme at Antarang pledges to assist underprivileged adolescents of low income groups to pursue their career and to provide employment by instilling values of self-discipline. Tata Power is fully committed to support the programme and provide more opportunities to the students from the underprivileged section of Dharavi.
