RAIGARH: International Day for Persons with Disabilities is celebrated worldwide on 3rd December every year to promote an understanding of Disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and wellbeing of Persons with disabilities. To mark this day, ASHA-The Hope organized a 2 day event including sports and a cultural programme for the special children at Raigarh.
Special sports was organized at O P Jindal School ground on 2nd Dec’ in which more than 112 differently abled children participated in various sporting events like wheel chair and tricycle race, soft ball throw, Sack Race, Crutch race, Jalebi race, Hit the target with auditory input for blind children etc. Mr. Akram Khan a national champion in Badminton from Raigarh was the chief guest for the program.
On December 3, 2012 a cultural evening was organised at the OP Jindal School Auditorium. The event was graced by CEO Zila Panchayat Mr. Rajesh Singh Rana & Deputy Director Panchayat & Social Welfare from Raigarh, Senior officials from JSPL, members of Jindal Ladies Club, Persons with disabilities from Raigarh, their parents/guardians and local NGOs.
The evening came to life with the performances of the special children which included Yoga, dance and songs. The dignitaries appreciated the program and cheered the spirit of these children. The chief guest congratulated the children for their flawless performances and also praised the excellent work done by ASHA-The Hope towards the amelioration of the persons with disabilities. Award ceremony was conducted for the special children. Mr. Sanjeev Chauhan, AVP –CSR & Communications, JSPL Raigarh congratulated the team and extended his whole-hearted support to ASHA-The Hope for their future endeavors. Asha the Hope also felicitated some of the persons with disabilities for their achievements and success in life.
