MUMBAI: Before Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) found a prominent place in corporates, it was already textured into Ashok Chhajer value systems; promoter of Arihant Superstructures Ltd. One should do charity by compulsory giving away a share of profits for the betterment of the society. It must be the duty of every single human being to share his earnings for the downtrodden people, advocates Ashok Chhajer. In today’s world it has gain significance in the corporate world as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The difference lies that Ashok chhajer believes in doing this silently and without making much of an exhibition in the society. Be it a help to the needy for his/her or family member operations or someone to be supported for building his career. But with the revised Companies Act 2013, CSR has been made compulsory for the companies to put it into practice.
Ashok Chhajer (Chairman & Managing Director), Arihant Superstructures Ltd believes that as corporates it is our duty to give create a responsible and educated society. Children’s are the future of the society and they need to be nurtured with education and hence no kid should be devoid of basic education. Thus our major CSR activity focuses on the “Child Education” and we have adopted a school for the same.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Vidyalaya, a school located at the outskirts of Panvel has been struggling to build class rooms for their increasing number of students. The school Principal Bharti Naik and President Ravindra Chorghe were trying their hard to raise funds for the construction of the new school premises.
With the economy running through ups and downs, day by day it was difficult for the school committee to raise the funds. Amidst of all these, the school committee got in touch with the Arihant Superstructures Ltd. The request made by school Principal Bharti Naik and President Ravindra Chorghe for a meeting with Ashok Chhajer was accepted without any resistance.
The school committee explained the need of having classrooms for the students who have to learn in open air under the tree. The current setup of school couldn’t accommodate the students in the existing classrooms.
Day by day the numbers of students were increasing and Ashok Chhajer was moved to tears seeing the plight of students doing their studies in hot sun and chilled winter in open air.
Without a second thought, a budget was sanctioned to see the construction of the new school building starts. This building would encompass 10 classrooms with a hall at the terrace for events like parents, students & teachers meet.
The time frame would involve 18 -20 months to get the complete finishing of the building. The current status is that the G+1 structure is ready and the internal walls are getting constructed.
The school President, Ravindra Chorghe was highly impressed with the response portrayed by Ashok Chhajer on this delicate issue. “Dil to Arihant ke Ashokji jaise ho, turant haa kar di” says delighted school Principal, Mrs. Bharti Naik.
The school today has been highly motivated as the new classrooms would accommodate 800 students easily in two shifts. The school today runs with 621 students and has achieved reasonable success in the SSC board exams with students scoring above 85% last 10 years.
