NEW DELHI: A two-day Capacity Building Program for Voluntary Organizations (VOs) was organized by Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) and Gandhi Samriti and Darshan Samiti (GSDS) on 15 and 16 July 2016 at Gandhi Darshan, Rajghat, New Delhi. More than fifty VO representatives from 15 states attended the workshop.
Ms. Mayuri Misra, Assistant Director, NFCSR, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), presented a session on ‘Introduction to SAMMAAN’. SAMMAAN is an initiative by BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA). It is a first of its kind platform that bridges the accountability gap between corporations and NGOs. Companies today find it increasingly hard to navigate the world of corporate social responsibility.
They have no way to validate the legitimacy of the NGOs or be sure of how the funds are being utilized. With Sammaan, they can now pick from verified NGOs and avail periodic reports. Sammaan brings together BSE’s exchange capabilities along with Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII’s) strong industry connect and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs’ (IICA’s) knowledge expertise to enable effective CSR compliance.
Ms. Mayuri highlighted the scope of the SAMMAAN platform to serve as an important medium to ensure convergence of corporate and implementing agencies and motivated VOs to avail the opportunity being extended through this unique initiative.
On further discussion, Ms. Mayuri also shared information on knowledge dissemination programmes of IICA – 9 month IICA Certificate Programme (ICP) in CSR and IICA Short Term Programme (STP) in CSR, thus highlighting a few initiatives of IICA among others.
Indian Social Responsibility Network, being an associate partner of Sammaan, guides VOs through the process of enlisting their organization and projects on the Sammaan platform. As a multi-dimensional facilitation network in the domain of CSR and sustainable development. It is a network of more than 600 VOs and corporate and also has many experts working in diversified area empanelled in its team.
